THE URBAN INDUSTRIAL

August 3, 2017

Some of our favorite moments at Wayward have come from seeing our final product installed. When working with designers, the process starts with us reviewing a presented idea, then ordering material and fabricating, and then the final install. We love when our work serves as a bold moment in a designed space, and because we're metal workers, we're often participating in urban industrial environments.

The urban industrial, or industrial chic is a more refined interior design style where metal materials are mixed and matched with natural elements like wood and stone. Neutral tones are celebrated along side concrete, blackened steel, and glass. It is a look that took the old brutalist industrial style and softened it to become a more elegant design with a tough edge. Whenever a design style comes along that celebrates the use of sleek raw material, we're obviously on board.

We've shared some of our favorite executions of this design style and how they incorporate, well, you know... metal.
