Pierce Tavern, a Neighborhood Hideout

Back in April we fabricated a number of really cool pieces for a soon-to-open Downers Groove restaurant that would be American tavern styled with a topping of cool industrial design. Last week that restaurant finally opened,

and we are so excited to share some photos!

Named after the founder of Downers Groove (Pierce Downer) Pierce Tavern is a laidback spot to sip craft beers and Moscow mules, enjoy hand-packed burgers, wood-fired pizza, and other upscale pub fare.

The owners, brother and sister duo Sam and Patricia Vlahos, aimed to establish a city ambience for the suburban environment that is the heart of Downers Groove.

We love the relationship between wood and metal in this space; The wood beams, bar face and pine flooring perfectly complement the industrial elements Wayward Machine Co fabricated for the space (such as the steel bar details and barstools). Our back bar shelving unit and liquor cage serves as a focal point for the tavern and homes the American whisky this neighborhood hideout specializes in.

You can watch us fabricate the liquor cages in this vlog! The ultra-industrial steel mesh is an element we are always excited to incorporate into any design.

We also fabricated the kitchen pass shelving, bar stools, a steel and wired glass partition, and the steel lettering on the front door! Check out the slideshow below.

If you enjoy quality food, drink, atmosphere, and GREAT metal fabrication (lol) dip into Pierce Tavern whenever you find yourself in the Downers Groove area.

It is located at 5135 Main Street, Downers Groove, Illinois 60515.

Tell them Wayward sent you, and enjoy!

See ya next week!
